Ice Age 4: Continental Drift (2012)!! Review

Ice Age 4: Continental Drift has brought exciting new environments and bigger adventures, the high seas, new islands and quite a few new characters as Cinema's most beloved trios – Manny, Diego, and Sid embark upon their greatest adventure to date! Directed by Steve Martino and Mike Thurmeier, the film stars the voices of Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary, Queen Latifah and many more new names such as Jennifer Lopez, Kunal Nayyar, Peter Dinklage, etc.
Just as the title suggest the plot of Ice Age 4 revolves around the repulsion of continents,

resulting in separation of the animal brood. The trio of Manny, Diego and Sid are forced into an adventure overseas, and the opossum-mammoth family tries to reach a rock bridge to meet up there. In the course, Diego gets to meet a female saber-tooth on the way and Sid reunites with his sluggish family. The new characters in the movie gives a feel that the director was scared of people getting overdosed by the trio. The crew of pirates who, while exploring the ocean, capture Manny, Diego and Sid, become the ultimate villains of the story. Scrat's quest to grab that acorn still continues. This time around, he encounters a map that would take him to the heaven of acorns, Scratlantis. He doesn't get to meet the trio like he did in the previous installment. It would never be exhausting to see him again and again, and it never gets old. Seeing Scratch's futile attempts at getting his hands on the acorn is just hilarious.
While the 3D animation quality of the movie looks the best, The film's storytelling is too flashy and there are too many characters, which more often create doubts among viewers. There is a significant improvement in the quality of 3D technology from Blue Sky, than the previous three instalments. The picture looks very colourful and fluid, and the most impressive elements in the movie are the sea storms, which are very well-detailed and thrilling to watch. Interestingly, the movie has minimum use of 3D, which actually turns the movie to become an eye pleasing one.
